Secondary Education Centre - Fun Sports Day
The Secondary Education Centre held their first Fun Sports Day on 10 February 2011 and staff and pupils alike had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Everyone pushed themselves to the limit to try and win with the best combined scores from eight different activities. Five teams were formed and each was led by a member of staff. Activity stations were set up around the school and each team took part in the activities on rotation for 5 minutes each time.
The activities were shooting basketball hoops, bouncing table tennis balls into a bin, trampoline tuck jumps, dribble and score with a football, passing a hula hoop round a human ring, hits using boxing pads, rowing or running in the gym and throwing frisbees through a net meaning there was something for everyone. There were certainly many smiling but red faces by the end od the competition.
Every participant had their aim, strength and stamina challenged and everyone gave their best efforts for their team. Each activity was scored according to the achievements for that activity and the scores for all eight activities were totalled. All of the scores were outstanding and only fifteen points separated the first three places and the winning score was 417 points.
