Published Date:

Tuesday 16th November at Liverpool Hope University was the venue for the culmination of the Primary Basketball Season. Eight schools from across the city had all qualified through their local SSP rounds to the LSSP City Finals, they were:

St Ambrose (South), Holy Trinity (South), King David (South Central), Lawrence Road (South Central), Barlows (North), Gwladys St (North), St Mary's (Central), Kingsley (Central).

After a short introduction by Competition Manager Paul O'Leary the action got underway! The schools played in round robin groups of 4, their success in the groups then progressed them to another round robin group where they then competed for their final placing in the tournament.

The whole day was played in excellent spirits, but as with all competitions their can only be one winner! King David proved worthy champions and gradually improved through the competition. Congratulations to them for their victory and all the other schools that made up the finals.

Four 'MVP's' were selected on the day:
Robert Wilcock (King David)
Michael Speed (St Ambrose)
Olivia Kenny (St Ambrose)
Emily Whitehead (Gwladys Street)

Overall placing:

1st - King David
2nd - Lawrence Road
3rd - St Mary's
4th - Holy Trinity
5th - Barlows
6th - St Ambrose
7th - Kingsley
8th - Gwladys Street

All children on the day received LSSP Finals certificates and the top 2 teams received medals and trophies.
