King David HS have had the opportunity to try the Olympic sport of Fencing thanks to a grant from the Sports Unlimited Fund.
Keith McCarthy from Liverpool Junior Fencing club has been taking sessions after school at King David. The girls and boys have thoroughly enjoyed the range of activities they have received.
The course of lessons started with introductory activities improving their agility and balance for the stance and reactions for combat. They have used the club’s protective equipment (jackets & helmets) as well as practising with foils, sabres and epees.
Their skills improved throughout the course and they were given the opportunity to duel using the electric light and beep machine where their hits were recorded to decide the winners in the competition.
They have been invited to attend the Liverpool club that meets at Childwall Sports College on Monday evenings.
