Indoor athletics yr 3/ 4 – partnership tournament

The South Liverpool SSP Y3/4 Indoor Athletics Finals took place at Austin Rawlinson Sports Centre on Tuesday 1st February. The 4 finalists qualified for the finals by virtue of winning their respective cluster events, thus had already achieved a level of success! The competing teams where (cluster in brackets):
Holy Trinity (ESLA)
Middlefield (Parklands)
Much Woolton (St Julies)
Woolton Juniors (Gateacre)
The competition was keenly contested with all 4 schools winning in more than one event. Holy Trinity Girls team were very strong and picked up 7 first places, while Middlefield Girls team were equally as strong and scored the most victories in there category. Both schools were neck-a-neck throughout the competition and finished on exactly the same amount of points.

A 4 x 1 lap relay race and long jump match up was required to separate the two schools. Middlefield emerged as worthy winners winning both the jumps and the relay. They now go on to represent South Liverpool SSP at the city finals taking place on 8th February at Everton Park, best of luck to them!
All schools conducted themselves impeccably on the day which was excellently organised on the day by Colin Grady and the leaders from Parklands.

Year 5/ 6 cluster football tournament (boys and girls)

Unfortunately on the night only 2 schools attended the football. St Christopher’s and Hunts Cross. Hunts Cross brought along a boys team and St Christopher’s brought a boys team and 2 girls’ teams. Two year 11 pupils (Kevin Rimmer and Marc Jones) did a wonderful job of refereeing the games and 2 ex pupils (Ryan Peloe and Chris Sixsmith) who are now studying degree courses at John Moores University help Mrs Burden organise and run the event as part of their degree course. It was a lovely evening with all participants getting involved and demonstrating excellent team spirit. Congratulations to St Christopher’s boy and girl’s team for winning the trophies.
